Release Date: February 4, 2014

SBB Review by: Mona

Book Description:

She’s living her dream…

Kylie Ryans is the biggest thing to come out of Nashville since, well, since Trace Corbin. With a hit album and a powerful label behind her, she appears to be the girl who has it all.

But appearances can be deceiving.

Fresh out of rehab, Trace Corbin is ready to take on the world. Just not the girl he walked away from. Because if there’s one thing he knows for certain, it’s that the people you love are the one’s who have the power to destroy you.

As their worlds collide, they’ll have to make the ultimate choice. Follow their dreams, or give it all up for love.

They say love conquers all, but for Kylie and Trace, it just might wreck everything they’ve worked for.

Girl in Love is Book 3 in the Kylie Ryans Series.

Nine months. It has been nine months since Trace walked out of Kylie’s life to go to rehab hand in hand with Gretchen.

Since then Kylie has been a shadow of herself. Trace walked away from her and broke her heart in the process. So yes she’s made it, has recorded her own album, she’s had hit singles and has a large army of fans. It soon becomes clear that she is the queen of the “fake it till you make it” way of living.

She wanted to roll her eyes. Deny it. Lie and say that she couldn’t care less. But she’d been consumed with feeling nothing for nearly a year. She was too tired to keep up the façade.

Kylie finds some comfort in Steven. They are really close, have a shared love for music and have begun composing together. He is the shoulder she can lean on and more when they feel like it… But there are no real romantic feelings between them. Rather, they both have experienced rejection. Understand the pain of not being able to be with the one they want and having to see them with someone else…

Trace had walked away from her. Mia had rejected him. They’d found a way to ease the pain.

Trace didn’t have a good time either during those months away as he fought against his demons and tried to identify his triggers. He knows that he has to let go of his past, of the anger that built inside him during his childhood. A further challenge was trying to decide if Kylie was someone who would bring him down or help him rise.

“She was bourbon and intoxication and freedom from everything that had every held him captive all rolled into one.”

Caisey Quinn did an amazing job, your heart will break for Kylie, while feeling her pain and despair. And until they are forced to tour together by their label you will be anxiously waiting for them to interact.

The fact that they had to share a bus reminded me so much of Girl with Guitar and that’s when I fell in love with this story, all the tension and anticipation reminded me of how their story began.

Even though attraction still stands, a lot has happened and needs to be discussed. There are still many issues between them which must be resolved first, and only then can they attempt to save what’s left of their relationship.

Even though all this heartache was painful to read and I wanted them to finally communicate with one another, they were guarding their hearts, taking much needed time, so the tension kept me on the edge.

“I’m already there, sweetheart. And I will be there until you stop playing and admit that there’s still something going on here”

What I love about this series is that it’s so fluid and the characters’ feelings are so realistic and feel right, they take you with them and it suddenly becomes intense.

I wish I could go back on time and discover this series all over again because these characters are just amazing and Caisey Quinn created such a wonderful story. To be honest, I think I’ll start it again very soon there are too many great moments I want to reread <3

Trace Corbin :

as always he will make you swoon and scream during this book because as much as he can be the sweet guy, his insecurities and old demons will make him hold himself back, especially with his endless “she deserves better” speech… We learn a lot more about his childhood, his dad and the relationship that remains with his mom. In this book I really felt for him and understood where he was coming from.

“ For a few moments, he sat in silence, alone with his thoughts. Thoughts of calling his sponsor because he wanted a drink so bad he could taste it.
But that wasn’t the want that was overpowering him.
He wished they’d had rehab for Kylie Ryans addiction. He never would’ve left.”

Kylie Ryans:

stronger than before, ain’t nothing can stop her. Even though she is heartbroken she reached her goal, has her own album and is touring which allows her to express herself while making a living from it. She still has her temper and she is not afraid to speak her mind. But she is also more fragile than before as Trace really did a number on her.

“I gave my heart away and he didn’t want it. Now I can’t find it anywhere.”

Supporting cast:

there were a lot of amazing characters accompanying them but I want to shine a spotlight on Steven cuz he was fun to be around and a great friend to Kylie when she was struggling to deal with all the drama in her life.. I wouldn’t mind a book about him!

“Just kidding,” he said, standing. “Pretty sure it’s just a dick in my pants and not a magic wand. But if I could wave it and help you get over him, I promise I would.”
